Tiffany & Co. Celebrates "Wailea On Wednesdays" With Tahitian Pearl Collection

The Shops at Wailea showcases some of the world's most beautiful Tahitian pearls from Friday, July 22 through Wednesday, August 3. Tiffany celebrates the rare collection with two receptions held in conjunction with the popular "Wailea on Wednesdays" weekly event that includes live entertainment and artist demonstrations. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 27 and August 3, Tiffany will open its doors for cocktails and the chance to peruse the gorgeous Tahitian pearl collection.

Tiffany pearls are hand selected by the company's gemological experts and are precisely matched for size and color and are recognized for their beautiful shapes, exquisite luster and superior nacre thickness. Pearl strands are strung on pure silk. The design is then finished with a distinctive clasp such as the Tiffany Signature™ clasp, an elegant "X" motif in eighteen-karat gold.

Pearls from the South Seas are the largest and rarest of all pearls. Farmed off the coastal shores of Australia, Myanmar (Burma), Tahiti and the Philippines, these magnificent pearls can occur as white, black or golden. Black pearls are commonly referred to as Tahitian and can also occur as light gray or a rainbow of colors depending on overtone. The warm water and large size of the mother oyster increases the nacre growth producing larger pearls, which can grow to 20 millimeters or the approximate size of a cherry. A Tiffany strand of lustrous South Sea pearls perfectly matched for size and color is one of fashion's classic statements of luxury and taste.
