Sand People open second Maui store at
The Shops at Wailea
Sand People has expanded to the south side with the opening of its retail store in The Shops at Wailea on May 9th. Located on the lower level between Wailea Jewlery and Black Pearl Gallery, the shop is open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. This is the second Sand People store for Maui and the seventh retail shop in Hawaii.
Founded by Laura & Scott Phillipson, Sand People, has been delighting shoppers and visitors to the islands with nautical decor featuring mermaids, sea shell and fish themed gifts and beach house accents for over 22 years. Their signature style is casual clothing for a relaxed lifestyle. Glass and wood displays house handmade wares including recycled glass items, recycled aluminum platters and locally hand crafted jewelry. Upon entering the store, you are immediately drawn to the large boat in the entry that typifies a day by the water and enticing you with colors of the sea.
“The Shops at Wailea is the perfect location to showcase our coastal lifestyle emporium. We have everything for your beach house, where ever that house may be.” says Laura Phillipson, owner.
Sand People is great for understated resort wear (such as Tencel Jeans), picture frames made from recycled boat wood, tableware, cotton throws, drawer pulls, wooden signs, tiles and art prints. Don't miss out on the great children’s section, with its adorable kids' clothes, books, gifts, T-shirts, and jewelry, plus cute stuffed "sea creatures".
A grand opening celebration is planned for summer 2006. There are seven stores in the state of Hawaii, with three on Maui: two Sand People (Wailea and Ka’anapali) and one Sand Kids (Ka’anapali), three on Kauai: two Sand People (Poipu and Hanalei) and one Sand Kids (Poipu) and one Sand People (Waikiki) on Oahu.
